For a space of connection, workshops, and shared experiences to come alive, a lot happens behind the scenes. Every year, an incredible group of volunteers helps make Pura Vida possible. In doing so, often experiences the festival in a very special way themselves.

A festival like Pura Vida doesn’t simply appear out of nowhere. It takes many hands, a lot of care, and people willing to support what happens behind the scenes so that space for encounters, workshops, and meaningful moments can unfold in the foreground.
Our Operations Coordinator Kevin and our Volunteer Managers Petra and Florian share what volunteering at Pura Vida is all about and why they believe being a volunteer can actually become the richer festival experience.
"A festival doesn’t simply happen," says Kevin.
"While people arrive, set up their tents, meet each other for the first time, or sit around the fire at night, a lot is happening in the background. Things are being coordinated, built, improvised, aligned, and carried."
That sounds like a lot of work. "It is," Florian says. "But truly helping out is also one of the most beautiful things you can do at a festival like Pura Vida." Our core team also consists entirely of volunteers who dedicate their time, energy, and heart throughout the year to make the festival possible.
For Kevin, one thing is clear:
"Volunteering is an opportunity to become part of the whole. Many people experience the festival in a really magical and empowering way through it — because they are not only participating, they are helping shape it."
Because connection doesn’t only happen in workshops or on the dance floor. Very often, it emerges in the spaces in between.
Many volunteers tell us that through their shifts they quickly found themselves in meaningful conversations with team members, other participants, and with the place itself.
One of our favorite stories is Paula’s.

Today Paula is part of our Storytelling Team, but two years ago she joined Pura Vida as a volunteer herself. Back then she not only got a glimpse behind the scenes of the festival — she also met her now partner Immo.
"I’m so grateful that two years ago I followed my intuition and spontaneously decided to join Pura Vida as a volunteer,"she says today.
"During my shifts, I welcomed new festival participants at the entrance and handed out wristbands. I also had the chance to prepare coffee and cacao for wonderful people in the Flower House. I experienced so many beautiful and magical encounters and moments and none of it felt like work at all. It was simply so much fun!"
Immo was volunteering as well. "We met during my very first shift, spent the entire festival together and have been inseparable ever since. Pura Vida changed my life on so many levels and I’m deeply grateful to have found this community."
We offer two volunteer ticket options.
The 12-hour Volunteer Ticket creates a balance that works really well for many people: you support the festival through two shifts of six hours each, while still having plenty of space to join workshops, meet people, and fully immerse yourself in the festival experience.
You initially purchase the volunteer ticket, and after the festival we refund a deposit of 50 Euros. Your effective ticket price is therefore 129€. For every shift you complete, you’ll also receive a food voucher. Camping in your own tent is included.
The 24-hour Volunteer Ticket is designed for people who want to take on a deeper role in supporting the festival. You’ll contribute through four shifts and receive the full ticket price back after the festival. "Our ticket models help us create a framework that is reliable and workable for everyone," Kevin explains. "Behind the scenes we have huge spreadsheets and lots of moving pieces. Knowing who is around and when helps us coordinate shifts and create a supportive experience for everyone on site."
Florian adds: "We also understand that paying the ticket price upfront can feel like a lot for some people. If you have questions or feel unsure whether volunteering is right for you, feel free to reach out at volunteers@puravida-festival.com. And if the ticket price itself is currently a real barrier for you, we’d be happy to explore together what might be possible."

The roles are as diverse as the festival itself: some happen right in the middle of the action, others more behind the scenes.
Some volunteers welcome participants at the registration desk, scan tickets and help people arrive. Others support parking coordination, guide campers, or help create a smooth flow around the festival grounds.
Some work in the back office, support logistics, organize food vouchers or solve spontaneous questions. Others become part of the café, bars, merchandise stand, or support spaces like the Family Space, Healing & Wellness areas, Stage Management, or Crew Kitchen.
And then there are the often invisible but essential tasks that make collective wellbeing possible: maintaining shared spaces, supporting sanitation, and helping care for the festival grounds themselves.
Our Eco Pirates make sure that not only the people, but also the land itself is taken care of and that our shared space functions well.
"No," Kevin says. "What matters more is reliability, openness, and a willingness to help out. We coordinate the rest together."
If you’d like to become part of this, we’d love to welcome you.

Kevin, our Operations Coordinator, together with Petra and Florian, play an important role in making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Together with the Operations Team they coordinate countless big and small details — from arrivals and shift planning to spontaneous solutions whenever reality unfolds differently than expected.
Much of this remains invisible to participants, yet it is an essential part of what holds the festival together.
And because we need around 80 wonderful humans across all volunteer shifts, they would absolutely love to welcome you to the team this year 💛
